What are Inbound Closers?

It seems that everywhere you turn, you come across a new training course on how to become an inbound closer.

These courses have different names for inside sales such as remote closing, remote integrators, inbound closing, and I’m sure others I haven’t come across yet.

No matter what you call it, inbound closing is essentially selling other people’s high-ticket products over the phone or video conference calls. Some even refer to it as simply telemarketing.

The reason why inbound closing has become all the rage is that many successful closers have created training programs and reveal the possible income potential.

It is now well-known that inbound closers earn high commissions. A good closer can earn anywhere from $2K to $5K or more depending on the price of the product they are selling.

What Do Inbound Closers Do?

In most cases, inbound closers find a client to close for. These clients are going to be product creators that sell their products or services for tens of thousands of dollars.

The most common type of high-ticket product is high-ticket coaching. These high-ticket coaches teach others how to create their own coaching services and/or products.

Once you land a client to close for, you can begin setting appointments with the leads they generate.

You never have to worry about the marketing side of the business. There will be a consistent flow of leads if the product creator is doing the proper marketing.

What is nice about the appointments is that you can still work around your own schedule. You can set your availability and the leads that come in can choose dates based on your hours.

This is accomplished through calendar software. You can then reach out to each individual lead via phone or through a video call using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, etc.

These are warm or hot leads so your job is to enroll each lead into the training course or coaching service.

When you make a sale (close a lead), you then earn your commission which in some cases can be 10% or more of a 5-figure product.

How Much Do Inbound Closers Make?

The appeal of inbound closing is the amount of money you can make.

Inbound closers can earn between $2,000 to $5,000 or more per sale depending on the price of the product and commission rate.

Many high-ticket coaching products cost on average around $10K. There are some that are as high as $20K or more.

At a 10% commission rate, it is possible for an inside closer to make a lucrative full-time income closing 2 to 3 leads per month.

The Pros and Cons of Inbound Closing

Although the high commissions are awesome, there are pros and cons to being an inbound closer.

Let’s consider some of the pros:

You Don’t Need Your Own Product

One of the nice things about inbound closing is that you don’t need to have your own product to make a lot of money. The product creator has done all of the heavy lifting of creating a valuable product that is worth the high-ticket price.

Work Around Your Own Schedule

Inside sales are convenient in terms of fitting it in with your lifestyle. You can do it part-time and work your way to full-time. Even part-time, you can earn a lucrative income.

Stay at Home Job

There is no need to leave home to do your job. All that you need is a laptop and a mobile phone to communicate with potential customers.

Now let’s cover some of the cons:

You Must Learn Sales Skills

No matter how easy the training courses may make it seem, you’re still in sales and if you don’t have natural sales skills, you’ll need to develop them. You should also like sales or attempting to close leads is going to feel like a chore.

If You Can’t Produce, You Could Be Let Go

Being an inside closer for a high-ticket product owner is not guaranteed work. If you struggle to close leads and make sales, the product owner could cut ties with you and choose someone else that has better closing rates.

No Guarantee of Inbound Closer Jobs

Many of these training courses will provide resources to find high-ticket clients but there is no guarantee. Keep in mind you’ll be competing with other inbound closers with varying levels of experience.

How to Become an Inside Closer

If you already have experience in phone sales, it would be a matter of seeking out high-ticket product owners.

You can find them all over YouTube or even in paid ads you come across scrolling on Facebook and Instagram.

One example is Richard Yu. He is a high-ticket coach and he often lets his followers know when he is hiring inside closers.

You can reach out to high-ticket product owners on their social media profiles or by email and ask about any potential openings for inbound closers.

If you have zero experience, then a good option is to find a training course (which there are plenty of them out there) and learn the skills.

Beware as some training courses charge way more than others. Check out Udemy or Skillshare for sales courses.

The Mike Barron Academy is a popular inside closer training course.

Alternative to Inbound Closing

Phone sales is not for everyone. Even though the potential commissions are enticing, It may not be your ideal way to earn income.

The good news is that you can earn income from home without talking on the phone or speaking to leads, ever.

This is exactly what I do to earn a steady income online. The business model is affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is an online business model that consists of promoting other people’s products in exchange for a commission when a sale is made.

It is only similar to inbound closing in the sense that you don’t need your own product and you can earn commissions.

What You Need to Get Started in Affiliate Marketing

The great thing is that you don’t need much at all. All that you need is a domain name, web hosting, and WordPress installed on your hosting account.

You can get all three with most web hosting companies such as Bluehost. Many of these hosting providers will also install WordPress for you.

I learned how to create a successful niche website promoting affiliate products by following the training program here.

Taking action on what I learned enabled me to transition out of a full-time job to working on my website full-time.

Content Creation

Unlike making phone calls and video calls to clients, what makes your business run will be content creation in the form of blog posts.

You’ll need to create content related to the niche that you’re in. Let’s say you choose a niche like cooking with air fryers.

Then you’ll want to write blog posts that attract air fryer users. Doing so will lead to free targeted web traffic.

Once your niche website begins receiving traffic, it has the ability to earn income.

That’s all without having to pick up a phone or log into a Zoom call. It is an ideal online business model for anyone who isn’t comfortable with telemarketing.

Closing Thoughts On Inbound Closers

I think inbound sales is a great opportunity if you enjoy sales. It will take some training and skill development, but it can lead to a lucrative income.

However, if you try out inbound closing and don’t particularly like it or if the business model does not appeal to you, affiliate marketing may be a better alternative.
