As you gain experience as an affiliate marketer, you will quickly learn how much your affiliate commissions can fluctuate.
The best affiliate program is one that has recurring commissions. Recurring commissions are paid every month as long as the people you’ve referred remain a customer of the company you’re an affiliate of.
It doesn’t take any extra effort to promote an affiliate product that has recurring commissions than one that doesn’t.
One of the best benefits of recurring commission affiliate programs is that you can earn over and over from one referral.
This can create more of a steady income for you versus affiliate programs that only offer a single commission for each sale that you refer.

How to Choose the Best Affiliate Program with Recurring Commissions
My recommendation is to choose an affiliate program in which you’ve used the product yourself.
As an affiliate marketer, I’ve had the best results promoting affiliate products that I personally use or have used in the past.
There are some good reasons for recommending products that you use yourself. The first reason is that you can write a genuine review.
One of the first things that people do when researching a product or service is to search for user reviews.
Another reason is that you will be confident recommending a product or service that you have experience with.
Building trust with your audience can lead to higher conversions (sales) of the product or service which means more commissions for you.
Affiliate Programs That Have Recurring Commissions
A majority of affiliate programs that you’ll come across that offer recurring commissions will be software services.
Some examples of recurring commission affiliate programs include:
Those are only a handful of the many that are out there. Finding them is a matter of doing a web search for “recurring commission affiliate program.”
If you find an affiliate program that you like but do not want to use the product or service for the long term, you can use it long enough to understand it.
For example, you can use the product for a month. Learn the ins and outs of using it. Write your product review and even create video tutorials.
A month should be more than efficient for understanding how a product or service works and who it can help.
How to Promote These Affiliate Products
Finding a great recurring commissions affiliate program is one thing. However, it is something different to promote the affiliate products related to it.
One of the best ways to promote any affiliate product is by creating a niche website. Why? A niche website focuses on one specific topic which helps to attract your targeted audience.
Let’s break down what you’ll need to get started.
Choosing a Niche
The first step is to choose a niche. If you’ve found an affiliate program that you like that offers recurring commissions, you can base your niche around the product.
For example, I use and really like using an eCommerce platform called SamCart.
SamCart’s affiliate program offers a 40% recurring commission on both monthly and yearly subscriptions.
Therefore, if I were to start a niche website to promote SamCart, I would create a niche website that focuses on a niche that could benefit from the service.
SamCart is known for enabling people to sell their digital products. I’d likely create a niche website that shares content on how to start selling digital products online.
The content that I create (articles) would answer the questions of the niche audience that I’m targeting.
Eventually, the search engines such as Google will crawl my website and index my content to rank in the search engine results.
That is the power of a niche website!
You get free targeted traffic and those visitors are highly likely to buy the products that you are promoting within your content.
Setting Up Your Website
The great news about niche websites is that they are super easy to get up and running.
You only need three things and these include:
- Domain name
- Web hosting
- WordPress
Most web hosting providers can set you up with everything that you need. Bluehost is one such web host. They will even install WordPress for you on any of their WordPress hosting plans.
After you have WordPress installed on your web hosting account, you can choose any number of free WordPress themes.
I use and recommend GeneratePress. They have a free version as well as a premium version.
The premium version is worth it as you get many more features with it.
Creating Helpful Content
The next step is to write your first piece of content. You can figure out what to write about by doing keyword research.
You can utilize both free and paid keyword tools. A good keyword tool that I’ve been using lately is Ubersuggest.
Type in a keyword related to your niche. A keyword tool will return results of the popular keyword phrases that people type in.
You can generate article ideas from these results. I don’t start writing any new article without first doing some keyword research.
Otherwise, you spend time writing on a topic that no one is really searching for. It’s best to write for your target audience to get the best results.
Linking to Affiliate Products
Making money with your niche website will require linking to the affiliate products that you’re promoting.
You can link to affiliate products using your affiliate link within your content.
However, I’ve found that what results in better conversions is to link to a product review that you’ve written.
That is why I stated earlier that it is best to choose an affiliate program in which you actually use the product that you want to promote.
Linking to a review page (also referred to as a money page) warms your reader up about the product versus having them click directly to the product itself.
Think about when you want to buy a product. You probably search for product reviews to help you make your decision.
The strategy is the same on your own website. Your visitors may be interested in the product that you recommend but are still skeptical.
If you direct them to a product review that you’ve written that demonstrates how the product has helped you, they will be more likely to be convinced enough to buy.
Closing Thoughts On The Best Affiliate Program
There are plenty of great affiliate programs out there.
However, I will always recommend recurring commissions over the one-off commissions other affiliate programs offer.
Unless you are earning recurring commissions, your affiliate commissions can greatly fluctuate.
