When you decide that you want professional guidance to help you level up in the affiliate marketing game, you want to choose the best affiliate marketing mentor you can find. You want to find someone who has been in the industry for a long time and has massive success like the Zach Crawford coaching program I invested in.

With all of the affiliate marketing mentors, there are to choose from, you want to make the most informed decision possible. After all, you are investing money into them.

I’ve invested in a few affiliate marketing coaches myself and I’m going to share what I looked for.

Hey there! I’m Eartha, the creator of this blog and an affiliate marketer. I discovered affiliate marketing years ago but it took a job layoff for me to seriously pursue it.

I recommend investing in an affiliate marketing mentor when possible. There is insight, guidance, experience, and knowledge you won’t always get in an online course alone.

Read below for my recommendations for choosing a good online business coach who may help you level up your affiliate marketing income.

Understanding the Role of an Affiliate Marketing Mentor

So why did I decide to invest in an affiliate marketing mentor after doing affiliate marketing for a few years? It was so I could level up my affiliate income.

For years, I focused on promoting affiliate products that had commissions between $20 and $50. While I made a steady income doing that, I felt my income was stuck.

That is when I discovered high-ticket affiliate marketing. When I realized that I could put in the same amount of effort and make larger commissions, I was all in.

The problem was, I didn’t want to spend another three years trying to figure out the best way to go about it.

I wanted a proven method and that’s where an online mentor came into play.

Defining a Mentor’s Responsibilities

The role of an affiliate marketing mentor is to help guide you to success in your own affiliate marketing business.

Your mentor should offer live group coaching calls (or 1-on-1 calls depending on the mentorship package you’ve chosen.)

These coaching calls are the real value of your mentorship. This is where your mentor can answer your questions, review your work, and teach any new information they’ve discovered themselves.

The Benefits of Having a Mentor

A big benefit of having a mentor (online business coach) is helping you to stay on track with your online business.

They can do this by answering your questions, giving you feedback, as well as motivating you to do what is necessary to reach success.

You’ll also learn a proven method for making affiliate commissions. One that could save you a ton of time.

The one thing I appreciate with my mentor is that he doesn’t sugarcoat anything. He tells you what he thinks and how you can improve.

I don’t know about you, but I do not want a mentor who tells me what they think I want to hear. I paid for genuine help and that’s what I expect.

Qualities to Look for in a Mentor

There are certain qualities I look for when selecting an affiliate mentor. It usually takes a bit of research but it is worth it. For the most part, I will seek out a potential mentor on social media platforms and YouTube.

Most affiliate marketing coaches will be active on the main social media platforms. This can give you a good idea about what they offer, how they teach, and other considerations.

Expertise in Affiliate Marketing

This is probably one of the first things I’ll research. I want to know how much experience a potential mentor has in the affiliate marketing industry.

Does this person have years of experience or only had a bit of luck? Have they made 6 to 7 figures with affiliate marketing?

These are important because some “coaches” put out an online course because they’ve made $10K in one month.

I recommend following someone who has been in the industry for years and has made at least 6 figures with affiliate marketing.

Teaching Skills

You can check out a potential mentor’s teaching skills by finding their YouTube channel (if they have one) or an Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook account.

YouTube is a great option as most affiliate coaches will share free tips in their videos. See if you like their teaching style. Do they communicate well? Do you like what they’re teaching?

Ethical Considerations

I also check that a mentor has ethical business practices. It may be obvious if someone is using shady tactics to operate their business.

Pay attention and if you’re not sure about anything, look for user reviews or message someone who has experience with that particular mentor.

Researching Potential Mentors

There are many affiliate marketing mentors to choose from and each of them has their own method for creating a steady income online.

It’s important to do your research beforehand. Finding a mentor you resonate with is important.

Otherwise, you are likely not to follow through with the training or any coaching calls that are offered.

Where to Find Mentors

If you are starting from scratch, you can begin searching for mentors by first doing some research about affiliate marketing topics.

As you do that, you are bound to begin coming across successful affiliate marketers who either are mentors themselves or recommend the same mentor who has helped them.

Make a list of the mentors who interest you and start doing a deep dive into their experience and what they teach.

Using Social Media and Forums

Another option is to search for mentors on social media platforms such as Instagram or locate them on YouTube.

You can also seek out affiliate marketing forums and post a question or search topics related to affiliate marketing coaches.

Evaluating Past Success and Track Record

If you want to get a clearer picture about a potential mentor, you can begin analyzing their student testimonials and reading reviews.

Keep in mind that some of the reviews you find will be biased as the writer of the reviews may also be an affiliate and make a commission for recommending the product.

Those reviews can still be helpful in some ways as you get to know what the mentor offers.

If you want to go a step further, you can seek out those who have been mentored and ask about their experience.

Aligning Your Goals with Their Expertise

Another main criterion is to assess your needs and goals with what your potential mentor’s expertise is.

What do you need from your mentor? Do you want to learn their method (proven formula)? Does your mentor’s strengths meet your needs?

What it Typically Costs for Mentorship

Every online business coach is going to have different pricing. You may find mentorships ranging from $500 to $10,000.

A higher-priced mentorship fee doesn’t always equate to a better mentorship. I’ve heard of someone paying $20K for a mentor and felt it wasn’t worth the investment.

That is why it’s so important to do your research so you can make the most informed decision you can.

Making the Decision

I do not regret investing in affiliate marketing mentors. I’ve learned a lot and have used what I’ve learned to make high-ticket affiliate commissions.

If you decide to invest in an affiliate marketing coach, be sure to complete the core training of the coaching program and take advantage of any coaching calls offered.

Make the most of your coaching and take action on what you learn. Be patient and stay consistent!
