These stores carry almost everything you can think of for outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, shooting, and camping.

Walking through one of these stores is an adventure in itself. Whatever activity you are wanting to do outdoors, you can bet they have the gear you’ll need.
The popularity of these stores is a benefit to affiliate marketers. Since people are so familiar with the brand, they are more confident to shop from one of the online stores.
Best of all, most customers are likely to buy more than one item. That means a larger commission for you.
Types of Products You Can Promote
There are so many products on the Bass Pro Shop website that you can promote. Here is a small list to start with:

How to Make Money with the Bass Pro Shop Affiliate Program
There are so many ways to approach affiliate marketing. Some strategies cost more and are riskier than others. However, there are also strategies that are tried and true.
The strategy that I chose is creating niche websites. Years ago, I used to work for a web marketing agency as a web designer.
After three years of working there, the entire web team was laid off. I had nothing to fall back on. It was devastating, to say the least.
It was then that I decided to pursue affiliate marketing as I didn’t want to be put in that situation ever again.
I chose to create a website as I knew it was the lowest cost and lowest risk way to get started.
The only problem was that I didn’t know how to make money with a website. I didn’t have time to waste so I searched for a legitimate online training program and found this one.

Choosing a Niche
The first thing to do is choose a niche. Bass Pro Shops carry a large number of products. You could create a general type of outdoors website and that would still work.
However, there is also a lot of competition in the broader outdoor niche. This is why I would choose a sub-niche under the outdoor niche.
You could take a look at the categories on the Bass Pro Shops website to give you some great ideas.
Let’s say, for example, that you truly enjoy fishing. You go fishing every chance that you get and you know a lot about the equipment and gear needed to fish.
You can create a niche website all about fishing. Or if you wanted to focus on a specific type of fishing, you could create one about fly fishing or ice fishing.
I would likely create a fishing website with various categories on my website that cover all topics of fishing.
So it would look something like this:
You could then write content under those categories on your website. I’ll talk more about the importance of content and how it attracts free traffic below.
Building Your Website
Creating your website is going to be really easy. You don’t need any technical background to do this.
You will need three things:
- A domain name
- Web hosting
- WordPress installed on your hosting account
Any web hosting provider can set you up with all three. You can register a domain name, choose a web hosting plan, and then install WordPress on your account with one click.
Some web hosting companies will install WordPress for you! Anyone can have their own self-hosted WordPress website up in a matter of minutes.

Get Free Traffic
Targeted web traffic is the key to making money with a website. Without traffic, you have no one to promote affiliate products to.
The benefit of a niche website is that the content that you create brings you free traffic. That means you don’t have to run paid ads to get the traffic that you need.
Getting this targeted traffic means creating content that your target audience is searching for.
In the case of our fishing website example, we can write about fly fishing as it is one of our categories.
You can use any keyword tool of choice. My favorite one is good ol’ Google Search and the autosuggest feature.
I opened up Google Search and began typing the keyword “fly fishing for” and here are some of the things that people search for:
You now have some ideas of content that you could write about. People in this niche want to know how to fly fish for different fish such as carp, trout, bluegill, smallmouth bass, and more.
By typing in different fishing-related keywords, you will have an unlimited amount of content ideas for your website.
As time goes by, it is the content that you create that gets indexed and ranked in the search engines such as Google and Bing.
Make Affiliate Commissions
Finally, you want your niche website to make commissions. When you write your blog posts, you can recommend some of the products on the Bass Pro Shops website using your affiliate links.
After you have signed up to become a Bass Pro Shop affiliate, you will get access to your affiliate links.
Your affiliate links are what track the sales that you make from your website.
Bonus: Boost Your Conversions
One of the things that I like to do is to write product reviews and link back to these reviews within my blog posts.

This strategy works extremely well. Think about how many product reviews you’ve read before buying a product. It works!
